Nokia 8600: Nokia is stepping up a lot on TV commercials and roadside signboards. It is obvious the company is spending very much on the marketing side. Not only that, the cell phone manufacturing guru is also coming up with unique cell phone names and functionalities. Nokia 8600 code name LUNA is one of the best examples.

Nokia 8600 was announced in October 2006, and finally we are having it in our hands to review it thoroughly for you. LUNA means 'Goddess of moonlight' in ancient Greek languages. The cell phone measures about 107x45x15.9 mm and weighs just below 140 grams. One can easily get used to its apparently huge size. At certain occasions you wouldn't even know that LUNA resides in your tight pant pockets. Cell phone main body is made up of stainless steel so there is no reason not to call it LUNA. The sliding mechanism works smoothly.

Nokia 8600 has got an awesome QVGA display which can show 16 million colors at a resolution of 240x320.

UNA 2 mega-pixel camera doesn't represent Nokia standards but still works well with still photos. Various snapping resolutions are supported ranging from 1600x1200 to 160x120. Digital zoom is up to 8x. JPEG compression is applied on the snaps taken by LUNA 2 MP cam.

The cell phone comes with 128MB of built in memory. However expansion slot can be used to increase it up to 2GB. LUNA supports USB 2 as well has Bluetooth connectivity. There is also a 2.5mm audio jack. The handset uses Li-Pol 900 mAh battery (BP-5M) which makes it running for 10 days on standby and 5 to 7 hours while talking continuously.

The overall performance of this fashioned phone is average considering its huge price which range from $900 to $1000.
